The incidents at railways in the Oriol and Leningrad region significantly complicated the logistics of the Russian army. According to the BBC sources, these could be attacks that support Kiev.
There is probably a Ukrainian military intelligence behind the incidents that occurred on the railway lines in the Oriol and Leningrad region in Russia this weekend. Referring to sources in the main administration of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (HUR), the British station BBC reported on Sunday.
“These railway lines are critically important logistics articles in the supply of occupation troops in the direction of Kharkov and amounts. As a result of the destruction of rail infrastructure in these areas, Russians will experience considerable complications in logistics, which will significantly affect their ability to carry out active actions against Ukrainian defensive forces,”.
Investigators are considering sabotage
The BBC recalled that the first incident took place on the Moloarchangelsk – Glazunovka railway line, lying in the Oriol region, where they found explosive devices during normal inspection. In their disposal, there was an explosion in which two members of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardija) died on the spot and third later succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
On the night on Sunday in the Leningrad region in the section Strogonovo – Mšinskaya derailed a train with tank wagons with oil products that ignited and according to Hur burned. The Russian authorities claimed that the tanks were empty. Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of the Leningrad region, said investigators are considering a sabotage version.
Russia uses railways to move soldiers
In addition, one diesel locomotive derailed over the weekend in the Leningrad region. The driver died in the accident, Drozdenko said. As DPA informed, HUR did not take responsibility for this accident.
In recent months, the railway network in Russia has repeatedly affected fires, explosions and other incidents attributed to Sabotage by Kiev.
Ukraine usually does not officially comment on these alleged attacks, but often welcomes them on the grounds that Russia is using the railway to move soldiers and fuel to the front line.
