The former president () left the house arrest for the first time since his conviction for five crimes in the coup plot. He went to a hospital in Brasilia on Sunday (14) for two medical procedures to examine two types of skin injury.
Bolsonaro received escort from motorcycles and cars from the Federal District Penal Police, with the presence of armed men. The former president also had the car inspected by leaving the house in which he fulfills the precautionary measures imposed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, (Supreme Federal Court).
About 20 Bolsonaro supporters were waiting for the former president at the hospital entrance in the southern region of Brasilia. He entered the medical unit around 8 am without making statements and made only discreet nods to the public.
Bolsonaro’s departure was requested by his lawyers. The medical report presented by the defense signals that the former president should undergo a skin lesion removal procedure. There is no need for hospitalization.
“The procedure will be performed at DF Star Hospital on September 14, on an outpatient basis and scheduled for the same day,” said Bolsonaro’s defense.
The document presented by Bolsonaro doctors describes two CIDS (international disease codes) linked to the former president’s health situation. The first is the ICD-10 d22.5, which refers to pigmented lesions on the skin, such as spots; The second is the ICD-10 D48.5, skin injury without defined nature.
The procedure to be performed is the removal and suture of these lesions.
Bolsonaro has been home to house arrest after the minister understood that he disrespected precautionary measures imposed by the court.
In August, he obtained authorization to go to the hospital to take exams to analyze a reflux and constant hiccups, problems with which he has received one from 2018.
According to a medical report released at the time, “the exams showed residual image of two recent lung infections possibly related to episodes of bronchoaspiration. Endoscopy showed persistence of now less intense esophagitis and gastritis, but with the need for continuous drug treatment.”
