Bleed radiators

If the radiator hums or warms up at the top, while the bottom remains cold, there is air. The solution is simple – take support a cloth or bowl and let the excess air escape. The heat then spreads evenly and the room heats up faster.

Check the boiler

Those who are drowning gas should invite a service technician at least once a year. The experienced eye knows if the exchanger is not clogged, whether all fuses work and if the boiler is safe. It is a small investment that will return in savings and at the certainty that the boiler will not leave you in the middle of winter.

Dust and dirt out

On the ribs of the radiators, dust settles that prevents the flow of warm air. Just a damp cloth or a special brush and the heating performance will improve. If you have filters in recuperation or air conditioning, be sure to replace them as well, the dust unnecessarily increases energy consumption.

“We have recently seen the advice to pour soapy water in the middle of the radiator and undermine a bowl under it. We do not recommend it – it contains too much water and can support corrosion,” says the company owner on Sam Whigham.

The safety in the first place

In autumn, more drowning, and thus the risk of fires or carbon monoxide leakage increases. Therefore, it is good to check the detectors and possibly replace the batteries. Those who use the fireplace should have a chimney clean, because it is not only an obligation, but mainly prevention of problems.
