Clean and cheap energy conditions in Brazil place the country as a possible training center for Artificial Intelligence Models (IA), says Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud’s global president. According to him, Big Tech is evaluating demand for companies around the world to use Brazilian data centers. On Wednesday (10) the company announced that it will install in its infrastructure based in Sao Paulo the TPU Trillium chips, which focus on AI processing.
Big Tech cloud computing services are used by nine of the world’s top ten major innovation laboratories – and these institutions can choose the location where their data is stored. According to Kurian, Google Cloud already argues with some customers so that the location of the cloud is in Brazil.
In addition, the sixth generation of TPUs – a processor technology created by Google – will serve for Brazilian customers who want to run their AI applications locally. This preference may exist for latency reasons (time the data takes to be transmitted) or even by regulatory requirement.

Generative media
According to Kurian, the use of Google’s processing capacity for media generation that goes beyond the text is already equivalent to Gemini’s, the company’s general artificial intelligence. There is a tool package that Google calls general media, with applications to create images, videos and audios. In corporate use, the executive points out as an example Chirp, which creates personalized voices being used in call centers. “It’s a way for the company to have a voice for the brand.”
What led Google to architect the TCUS was precisely the need for more processing capacity for your voice assistant. In 2015, the company noted that if 30% of users would do their audio searches, all processors would be dedicated to this. The use of TPUs in Brazil, therefore, are important to enable the general media IAS.

Google Cloud has also announced that Brazilian organizations will be able to use the Gemini 2.5 language model version keeping data on their own data centers. Change will allow organizations to have access to the latest technology without compromising safety requirements or performance. Serpro, a state information technology company, already uses services, Google and will be directly benefited.

Kurian points out that the private sector is also interested in format, for bringing more confidentiality. “There are health companies that want this because they have records of individuals who are identifiable. Some banks are also using this configuration,” he says. In addition to the safety issue, there is performance gains, according to Google Cloud.
