Pedro Freitas, XP’s investment banking partner, discussed, in the latest edition of Podcast Raiz do Business, partnership Infomoney And The Agribiliz, as the Brazilian financial market is still in the process of learning about agribusiness.
According to him, although there is a significant evolution, the sector requires continuous education for investors and producers, as each agro segment has its own particularities and cycles. “No doubt it needs a lot of education – just like for all sectors. We had a giant evolution, but we are still only in the beginning,” said Freitas.
O Case Jalles
The executive emphasized that practical experiments are fundamental to reduce the distance between financial market and agribusiness. As an example, he cited the history of Jalles Machado’s IPO, in the sugar sector, in Goiás, which faced Market distrust. To bring investors closer to the company’s reality, it was necessary to organize visits to the plant, showing processes such as the cogeneration of energy from sugarcane bagasse.

“There is no way to know if it is not there. It has to dirty the boot,” he said, explaining that this practical experience allows to better understand the operation of the sector and facilitates more informed decisions. This education benefits not only the market, but also producers, who focus on cash generation, governance and productive efficiency.
Tastes and recommendations
Finally, in a more relaxed moment of podcast, Freitas shared personal preferences, showing another side beyond the financial.
He cited “How to Make Friends and Influence People” as a favorite book, “Yellowstone” as a series and highlighted country music during his gym training, highlighting the classic “Evidence”: “never dies.”

He also commented on the cities of the field that surprised him most in visits through Brazil, reinforcing his direct contact with Agro. This combination of practical experience, education and proximity to the sector is, according to him, which ensures that the Brazilian Agro remains attractive to investors and prepared for new opportunities.
