With Palmeiras and Flamengo with an eye, River Plate hits Estudiantes in the Argentine

River Plate beat Estudiantes 2-1 on Saturday night (13) in La Plata, for the 8th round of Argentine championship.

Galloppo and Nacho Fernández scored for visitors in the state Ciudad de la Plata, Enragato Núñez discounted.

The victory maintains the millionaires in the leadership of Group B. Marcelo Gallardo’s team has 18 points in 8 games, two points more than Deportivo Riestra, vice-leader with 16 points.

Remember that the Argentine League works in the form of tournaments APARTURE AND CLAUSURA, with 15 teams divided between two groups. Each team faces the others in the single shift key, besides two interzonal games.

The best eight of each group advance to the knockout, with octaves, quarterfinals, semi and final in a single game.

Brazilian teams with an Argentine Championship

River’s victory over Estudiantes, as well as the Argentine fans, also draws attention to the fans of Palmeiras and Flamengo.

Next Wednesday (17), at 9:30 pm (Brasília), Verdon visits River, at Monumental de Nuñez, in Buenos Aires, for the quarterfinals of Libertadores. Flamengo, in turn, receives Estudiantes in Maracanã, on Thursday (18), at 21h30.

Nacho Fernández is decisive for River’s triumph

At 6 minutes, Nacho took a corner kick and Galoppo jumped at the entrance of the small area to open the scoring for River Plate. 7 minutes later, Nacho himself took advantage of the defender in the large area, straightened and hit the corner of Muslera.

The move was still revised by VAR for a possible touch of hand, but the goal was validated.

In additions of the final stage, Santiago Núñez scored the lone goal of Estudiantes after much pressure. The reaction, however, stopped around. River’s victory in La Plata.
