World Athletics: South American Historical Medal in the Marathon

On the second day of the Athletics World Cup dispute in Japan, Uruguayan Julia Paternain won a historic feat. In the Women’s Marathon race, held this Saturday (13), the 25 -year -old athlete took the bronze medal, with a time of 2h27min23s.

The result marked the first podium in the history of South America in the race (among women) and the first Uruguay medal in.

The gold went to Kenya Peres Jepchirchir, who ended the dispute with the 2h24min43s mark. She printed a very strong pace at the end of the race to overcome Ethiopian Tigst Assefa, which ended with 2h245s.
