These interior design trends from Tiktoka are a flap. Don't do it at your home

Social media such as Tiktok provide a lot of inspiration, but what has become a trend on them does not have to be good advice. Interior tips with such platforms can hurt, which experts warn against. What is better to avoid?

The architect and expert Feng Shui Cliff Tan indicated some errors that in his opinion negatively affect the house and apartment. According to a specialist, a lot of trends have appeared on Tiktok, which have little to do with a good interior design. These include:

  • All in one color – A trend has appeared on Tiktok, which says that elements such as stones, floors or marble can also be painted. However, the expert indicates that this is why their natural character is lost. This also applies to fireplaces and old furniture, it causes irreversible changes and makes such elements look artificial.
  • Dark walls everywhere – A few darker interiors, especially in a large house, can be interesting, but a trend has appeared on the platform, talking about painting all the walls. As the expert indicates, it can be overwhelming to the eyes, although the effect in the video can be intriguing, with everyday functioning, this is not a good solution.
  • No context in tips – The expert also indicates a false belief in universal tips such as dark colors, add elegance. However, the architect indicates that in all this the most important is the context, without it such advice does not have to be good.

Several other experts have also noticed good interior design trends on the platform. Designer Steven Graffam indicates that the creators are happy to show neon colors, forgetting about the theory of colorwhich is very important when designing rooms. Many videos show contrasts that can negatively affect well -being, causing, among others irritability or confusion.

In turn, the designer John Stivale points to Excess DIYnot all rooms need dozens of their own decorations. Especially, if they don’t have much in common, they quickly become dust collectors and clutter the rooms. The expert indicates that it is worth remembering about minimalism.

All specialists also agree on one trend – excess mirrors. If they are well integrated, they can enlarge the rooms, but if there are too many of them, the effect may be the opposite, and the interior will seem smaller and more overwhelming.
