United States and China have reached an agreement so that the Tiktok social network can continue to operate in the American country. At least that follows from a publication that the US president himself, Donald Trump, has written on his own platform. “The great commercial meeting in Europe between the United States and China has gone great. An agreement was reached on a company that the young people in our country wanted to save. They will be delighted!“The president has written in Truth Social.
In the same publication, Trump has assured that he will have a conversation with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, next Friday. “The relationship is still very solid!”has celebrated. The US president has, therefore, was happy with the course of commercial meetings that both China and the United States have held in Madrid since the beginning of the weekend. This is the fourth round of negotiations in search of an agreement on tariffs, export controls and the future of Tiktok, just two days after the deadline for the video platform to stop working in the United States.
The meeting between the delegations of both countries is produced after the extension in August of the Tariff truce which extended until November the suspension of new taxes and reduced the tariffs previously imposed to 30% for Chinese goods and 10% for Americans.
This Sunday, Donald Trump had already said that Tiktok’s future depended on China. “We may let her die, or maybe … I don’t know, it depends”he said to the press. This next Wednesday expires the legal deadline for the Chinese company Bytedance, owner of Tiktok, to sell the platform or application will stop working.
Although at the beginning of his mandate Trump openly criticized the company, now defends its use as a tool to connect the youngest electorate.
