The minister authorized on Monday (15) the visit of six politicians to the house of former president (), who is serving house arrest in Brasilia. The ruling complies with Bolsonaro’s request the week following the conviction in the Federal Supreme Court for the failed attempted coup d’état in 2022. The sentence is 27 years and 3 months in prison.
The list includes the president of the PL, the PL leaders in the House, Sostenes Cavalcante (RJ), and the opposition in the Senate, Rogério Marinho (RN), and Deputy Rodrigo Valadares (União Brasil-SE), who reported the Amnesty Bill in the Constitution and Justice Commission.
Senator Wilder Morais (PL-GO) and former Minister of Mines and Energy Adolfo Sachsida complete the list of visit requests sent by the former president’s defense to the Supreme on Monday.
The governor of Sao Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), made a single request to Bolsonaro. The defense of the former president informed the Supreme Court to have an interest in the visit to Tuesday (16). The decision is up to Moraes.
Each visitor will have one day to find Bolsonaro. The agenda was organized by alphabetical order. The first will be Adolfo Sachsida (19), followed by Rodrigo Valadares (22), Rogério Marinho (23), Sostenes Cavalcante (24), Valdemar Costa Neto (25) and Wilder Morais (26).
“I point out that all visits must observe the legal and judicial determinations previously set, as well as, pursuant to the decision of 8/30/2025, surveys will be carried out in the habit and trunk of all vehicles leaving the defendant’s residence,” Moraes says in the decision.
The minister also authorized Bolsonaro to receive a prayer group on Wednesdays at his home. The group is coordinated by pastor Ezenete Rodrigues and has the participation of 15 other people.
District deputy Thiago Manzoni (PL) of the Federal District is named in the list to participate in the prayer group.
“It should be renewed the clarifications that this prayer group was already regularly gathered at the petitioning residence even before the imposition of precautionary measures. Thus, in view of what has already been recognized for your excellence in preserving the family routine, it is reported that such meetings will continue to occur weekly, on Wednesdays, except determination in a different sense,” says the lawyer Celso Vilardi in the petition.
Bolsonaro has received visits at his home since his house arrest was decreed on August 4. Visitors need to be authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The meetings take place from Monday to Friday, one per day, and the use of cell phones is prohibited.
Moraes also determined that all people who come in and out of Bolsonaro’s house need to go through the car to avoid possible escape attempt.
In requests sent on Monday, Bolsonaro’s defense presented reasons that would justify the former president’s meeting with the politicians who intend to visit him.
For Rogério Marinho, for example, the defense says that the visit would be important for the “maintenance of continuous institutional dealings with the parliamentarian, whose attributions in the National Congress require direct dialogue with the petitioning, including to define strategies and monitoring of relevant guidelines to the party and popular representation.”
“The authorization now claimed is harmonized with the preservation of judicial control over the imposed precautionary measure, while ensuring minimum conditions for the exercise of the political action of the petitioning, even in house arrest,” says Vilardi.
Bolsonaro’s lawyers say that the dialogue with Valdemar is “indispensable […] for coordination of institutional guidelines and planning of national political actions “.
In other cases, the defense states that the meeting should occur “due to the need for personal dialogue with the petitioning.”
