Israel launched a terrestrial foray into the city of Gaza, two Israeli authorities told CNN On the morning of Tuesday (16), local time.

The planned foray began on the outskirts of the city of Gaza, where the Israeli army intensified its air attacks and accelerated the destruction of skyscrapers last week. One of the authorities said the earthly forest will be “gradual and in phases” at the beginning.

“Gaza is on fire,” wrote Defense Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday. He said Israel’s defense forces (IDF) were “attacking terrorist infrastructures” and working to ensure “the liberation of hostages and the defeat of Hamas.”

The earthly forest should occur only after the Israeli army forcing the densely populated urban area emptying, but only a fraction of it has left so far.

The UN warned last month that Israel’s plans to invade the city of Gaza would put about 1 million Palestinians living there at risk of forced displacement. On Monday (15), an Israeli military officer stated that about 320,000 Palestinians had already fled the area.

The raid began with a new wave of Israeli attacks, which caused victims, including children, to trigger the exhausted hospitals of the enclave. Dozens of injured Palestinians were taken at night to hospitals near the city of Gaza, including Al-Shifa Hospital and Batista Hospital, according to local authorities.

Videos obtained by CNN showed the bodies of victims coming to hospitals in northern Gaza. Two adults can be seen in a video shouting in pain as they mourn the bodies of their children, covered with white shrouds.

In August, Israel approved a plan to take and occupy the city, which claims to be one of the last strongholds.
