Direction can also exclude the Direction after suspension of membership in the European Socialists. EURACTIV reported that the exclusion of Robert Fico’s party will be a proposal.
However, most Eurosocialists will have to agree with the ejection direction. We talked to whether it is real and what it would mean for SMER’s party, Radovan Geist’s publisher. “It does not seem to have the direction of the Allies to stop it,” says Geist in an interview with Aktuality.sk.

EURACTIV portal has brought today that the president of the European Socialists Party (PES) and former Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven is to submit a proposal to exclude Direction over the weekend at Congress in Amsterdam. What does this mean to Robert Fico?
If Direction’s membership in the European Socialists party remains suspended, there is still a possibility to restore it, even if it would be very difficult. Robert Fico has already suspended it after creating a coalition with the CIS or because of its unacceptable attitudes to the rule of law or minorities.
And will the European Socialists accept the proposal of Löfven if he submits it?
It is the decision of the European Socialists. Not only the chairman decides. Party exclusion is a serious step. Today, it is only possible to guess how they will vote. So far, however, it does not seem that Direction has so many allies to stop it. If such an exclusion is indeed proposed by the party chairman, there is probably a major agreement.
Does Direction still have any allies?
I wouldn’t call the allies, but there may be parties that do not want to work with Direction now, but they want to leave the door open there. This stems from ties to specific members. Direction has been in the European Socialists party for two decades, certainly built ties.
At least the last ten years are the relationships of Direction and the dog tense and have cooled in recent years. We cannot say in advance how the vote will turn out. However, I do not see the willingness to leave the direction in the party also for the last steps of Robert Fico. These are attitudes to war in Ukraine, the rule of law and minorities. All of this makes it a problem for the European Socialists. The dog faces justified issues why it does not rule out Direction if the people in the past have been thrown away from their ranks by Fidesz Viktor Orbán.
Does the pressure on the Euro -socialists also play the role from the outside, such as the Union?
It is the decision of the European Socialists Party, it has nothing to do with the official European Union policy. However, if these parties are in governments in Member States, they are directly or indirectly Robert Fico called warfares in the conflict in Ukraine. Thus, the link between European and party policy is there. Moreover, Eurosocialists are the second strongest faction in the European Parliament.
Direction wanted to restore interrupted membership of Eurosocialists after the elections. After all, it failed. What would change the exclusion to the discharge of MEPs and MEPs compared to the current situation?
Direction was not uniform in the restoration of membership, there were also voices that talked about cooperation with the extreme left or the fraction of patriots.
However, Katarína Roth Nevadalová and Monika Beňová were deputies for the renewal of membership of Eurosocialists.
However, in terms of how Smer is presented and voted, the possibility of renewal of membership was out of the question. And what will change? Nothing changes practically. They did not participate in any way when fractions distributed functions in the European Parliament. This also applies to the voice represented by MEP Branislav Ondruš. For the time being, it does not seem that the voice should be excluded from the dog. However, if Direction is excluded, it may look for another alternative, for example, to join the patriots.
Patriots, however, boycott the European mainstream. They include Andrej Babiš, Viktor Orbán and Marine Le Pen. What would change on the direction of Direction by entering this faction?
Nothing would change practically. However, patriots could negotiate with other nationalist factions and block something if they were part of a larger whole. It would be more natural for Direction, because it is an anti -European side.
European socialists will not exclude the voice side. In European policy, do they see the difference between Direction and the voice?
They want to see the difference and some see it. I don’t know what reasons they have. Maybe Branislav Ondruš is better communicating inside and he is doing filtering, which says Matúš Šutaj Eštok. This may be due to the fact that Eurosocialists want to keep the door open to the party scene in Slovakia.
Moreover, Direction could pay for the premiere that is more visible. Patience could occur. What Direction is doing has been doing for a long time and the Eurosocialists receded him. Now they have decided not to retreat.
So the influence of Robert Fico on European policy will be lower than it was now?
He had no effect because he lost the credit by suspending Direction’s membership in the dog. If there were informal communication channels between Direction and Eurosocialists, there would be no reason after the exclusion. They have no reason to coordinate and share information with someone who is not part of it.
