SAO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS)-US President Donald Trump announced at dawn on Tuesday (16) on his social network, which is moving a $ 15 billion lawsuit against the American newspaper The New York Times, four vehicle reporters and also against the publisher Penguin Random House for defamation and slander, as well as citing damage to the reputation.

“Today, I have the great honor to file a $ 15 billion process for defamation and slander against New York Times,” Trump wrote on his social network. The president called the newspaper “one of the worst and most degenerate in history,” accusing him of becoming “practically a spokesman for the radical leftist Democratic Party.” The process will take place in Florida’s court, where Trump has his sea-lag resort.

The New York Times and Penguin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The process cites a series of New York Times articles, including an editorial prior to the 2024 presidential election, which said he was not fit for office, and a book published last year by the Penguin entitled “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Farther’s Fortune and Created The Illusion of Success” Donald Trump wasted his father’s fortune and created the illusion of success).

“The defendants maliciously published the book and the articles knowing that these publications were full of disorders and manufactures about President Trump,” says the lawsuit filed on Monday in a Florida Federal Court.

The publications, according to the defense of the Republican, have impaired Trump’s commercial and personal reputation, causing economic damage to the value of his brand and damage to his future financial perspectives.

“Damage to the value of TMTG (Trump Media and Technology Group) shares is an example of how defendants’ defamation has damaged President Trump,” wrote his lawyers, citing “a sharp drop in stock price.”

The process comes after Trump threatens last week to process the New York Times by reports about Trump’s alleged letter to Jeffrey Epstein – influential minor -convicted financier of minors and found dead in prison in 2019 – with a suggestive tone of erotic nature and the naked woman’s contour design.

The illustration was revealed in July by the Wall Street Journal, which generated another Trump process asking for at least $ 10 billion.

Last week, the NYT published a text in which it said that the signing on the ticket Epstein had several similarities to what he used when writing to New York City Hall employees from 1987 to 2001.
Trump said he walked away from Epstein before investor’s problems with the courts became public in 2006.

In his second term, the Republican intensified his repression against media companies. In addition to the cases involving the journalistic coverage of his relationship with Epstein, Trump invested against Paramount, CBS controller. The company agreed to resolve a lawsuit filed by the president that the CBS news program “60 minutes” issued an interview with former vice-president Kamala Harris with the alleged intention of favoring her in the 2024 presidential dispute.
