The White House spokesman, shared on Monday (15.Set.2025) an article of criticizing the conviction of the former president (PL) by the Supreme Court (STF) for attempted coup.
Entitled “The Brazilian Way of Lawfare Gets Bolsonaro” (“The Brazilian way of Lawfare hits Bolsonaro”in free translation), the text of the conservative columnist accuses the court to practice “lawfare”. Read (for subscribers).
Leavitt published the article in (former Twitter). The gesture is another demonstration of allies by President Donald Trump (Republican Party) against the conviction of Bolsonaro to 27 years and 3 months of prison.
O’Grady’s article published on Sunday (14.Set) states that the decision of the STF that condemned Bolsonaro was skewed and aimed to arrest the former president.
According to the journalist, the Supreme Court acted politically and allowed the process to be tried directly in Brasilia, without undergoing lower instances-of those of the former president. She highlighted that of Minister Luiz Fux.
Lawfare is the use of the justice system for political purposes. The term was popularized in Brazil with Lava Jato and the president (PT) to criticize the operation, claiming that the petista was the subject of judicial persecution motivated by power disputes and sustained in fragile evidence.
