Slovakia will not vote in Brussels for the changes in Green Deale. Minister of the Environment Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) announced this on the social network. The EU Environment Council is to be addressed on Thursday (18 September).
- Slovakia does not plan to support new changes in Green Deale.
- Minister Tomáš Taraba on the social network expressed disagreement.
- The EU Council is to discuss other emission standards for 2040.
- Taraba criticizes the impact of regulations on the European industry.
- Green Deal considers an ideological concept without support.
“It is supposed to decide on the other elements of Green Deal. One of them is that they want to tighten the emission standards that were supposed to apply in 2050 and most recently want them to pay in 2040. This is another way to expel the European industry outside the borders. Taraba said. He stressed that the power of states in Brussels must be manifested by being able to advocate the interests of their citizens and not just “passively pricking the idea of Brussels officials”.
Taraba pointed out that the ban on the sale of internal combustion engines could be abolished. This cancellation was one of the basic elements of Green Deal and forced the automakers to invest millions of euros in electric vehicles, he said. “Today, when they see that they have caused the poor economic performance of European automakers, they have come to be able to cancel it,” The minister said. According to him, Green Deal is an ideological political concept without a scientific and economic basis.
