Grandeur of procedures and protests against the American mark the 2nd official visit of the president to the country
This Wednesday (17.Set.2025), King Charles 3rd of the United Kingdom received US President Donald Trump (Republican Party) at Windsor Castle, the oldest in occupation in the world, for one.
The ceremony, marked by the grandeur of the procedures, is considered unprecedented. The 2nd US state visit to the European country involves a strong security scheme, technology investments and planned protests.
Trump arrived at the Windsor castle near the first lady Melania. Gala treatment includes carriage transport, a royal guard shot and a fly of the F-35 fighters from the Armed Forces of both countries, as well as a large banquet.
According to the United Kingdom, this will be the largest ceremonial military reception for a state visit in the country’s recent history.
This reception is uncommon for US leaders who are in their 2nd term in the presidency. Trump has already received the honors to the country in June 2019, when he met Queen Elizabeth 2nd. Now the ritual will be replicated by the exchange in charge of the British monarchy.
The Republican is the 3rd president of US history to make a state visit at the invitation of the British royal family and the 1st to do it twice. George W. Bush and Barack Obama were the others. Trump’s predecessor, Democrat Joe Biden, met both Elizabeth 2nd and Charles 3rd, but at no time with the honors of a state visit.
On Tuesday, 4 protesters were arrested after Trump images alongside Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexual trafficking, exploitation and sexual abuse of minors, were designed in one of the towers of Windsor Castle.
The official visit of the US President ignites Trump protests, mainly for his relationship with Epstein. The episode reverberates in the UK. On last Thursday (11.set.), Prime Minister Keir Stmerer dismissed the British ambassador to Washington, Peter Mandelson, after revelations about his relationship with the financier.

Business agreements
Trump’s political agenda in the United Kingdom has its highlight on Thursday (18.Set), at a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Keir Stmerer (Labor Party, Center left). The commitment will be in Checkers, the official field residence of the British government.
Trump and Stmerer have a good relationship, despite the ideological divergence. The labor was the 1st to close a trade agreement with the Republican to reduce commercial tariffs announced by the White House in April. Now Downing Street expects to increase this agreement with lower rates for steel and aluminum.
The meeting should also include joint Ukraine support actions in the war against Russia and advances in treaties aimed at cooperation in technology and nuclear energy. Trump will return to Washington DC on Thursday (18.Set) and will complete 18 days outside the country in this 2nd term. Here’s the international trips of the Republican in 2025:
- Italy and Vatican (25 and 26.abr) – Pope Francis’ funeral;
