The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) decided to open an inquiry against the former president (), his sons Eduardo, Flávio and Carlos and 20 people for incitement to the breach of effective measures to combat Covid-19 pandemic.
The investigation was opened at the request of the Federal Police and based on the final report of the Senate in 2021.
In the order, Dino determines that the investigation has an initial period of 60 days. The Federal Police informed the Supreme Court interested in carrying out complementary steps to those carried out by COVID CPI, such as the “hearing of those involved and other measures that are necessary.”
The open inquiry focuses on disinformation spread over pandemic and encouraging the disrespect of measures to combat Covid-19. Dino pointed out, however, that the senators’ investigation identified other possible crimes.
“The parliamentary investigation pointed to evidence of crimes against public administration, notably contracts, bid fraud, overpricing, misappropriation of public resources, signing contracts with ‘facade’ companies to provide generic or fictitious services, among other illicit mentioned in the CPI report,” he added.
