The president of the House of Representatives, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), decided to include on the plenary agenda on Wednesday (17) the urgency of the amnesty project.
In an X (former Twitter) publication, Motta reported the decision and stated that Brazil “needs pacification and a future built on dialogue and respect foundation.” “The country needs to walk,” he added.
“We have different views and divergent interests in the events of January 8, 2023. It is up to the plenary, sovereign, to decide,” added the mayor.
To vote the article, Motta called on extraordinary deliberative session for the night of Wednesday. The urgency of Project No. 2162/2023, authored by Deputy Marcelo Crivella (Republicans-RJ), is the only item on the agenda.
The mayor’s decision occurred after long pressure from the opposition. In recent weeks, however, with the condemnation of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the intensification of the joints, Motta began to signal that he would guide the matter.
