Lyft and Waymo announce partnership to launch “Robotax” service in the USA in 2026

Lyft announced on Wednesday, 17, a partnership with Waymo to launch in 2026 a fully autonomous transport service in Nashville, United States. According to the company’s statement, the collaboration unites “world -class autonomous vehicles”, the so -called robotáxis to the Lyft service experience.

The initiative provides that the Flexdrive subsidiary assumes the full management of the Waymo fleet in the city, including maintenance, infrastructure and deposit operations.

Initially, users will be able to request autonomous cars through the Waymo application, but it is expected that, in 2026, trips will also be integrated into the Lyft platform.

According to Lyft, the partnership represents an important step for the expansion of autonomous mobility, combining the already proven Waymo technology with Flexdrive’s fleet management capacity.

Waymo stressed that Nashville was chosen as part of its strategy of scaling the autonomous racing service for more people in more places.

The statement adds that a “dynamic market integration” will be implemented, allowing Waymo vehicles to be triggered by both Lyft and Waymo itself.

In addition, Lyft will build an installation dedicated to the management of the autonomous fleet, equipped with loading points and maintenance services, ensuring, according to the company, the “consistent and high quality experience” expected by users of both platforms.
