Police in France shot a man with a machete. The incident happened to La Seyne-Sur-Mer kindergarten and requested the deployment of weapons after the taster failure.

Police in La Seyne-Sur-Mer-Meria, lying in the southeast of France in the Department of Var, shot a man whose witnesses saw a machete in their hands near a kindergarten on Thursday. TASR reports this based on AFP reports and LE Figaro.

The incident occurred around 16.45. Witnesses had previously reported to the police that they had seen a man armed with a credible weapon with a blade of several tens of centimeters on the street near the kindergarten, which was threatened verbally by his surroundings, Samuel Finielz said from the Toulon Prosecutor’s Office.

The use of the taster was unsuccessful

A patrol was sent to the site. The cops saw an armed man when they arrived at the place and asked him to put the machete on the ground. When he disobeyed and began to approach them with a machete in his hand, the police first used the taser twice, but to no avail. After the man continued to threaten, the cops fired at him six times, aiming at the lower body.

The man was then taken to the local hospital, where he died a few minutes later. His identity was not immediately known because he had no documents with him.

“Two investigations have been initiated – for violence with a weapon against unidentified persons and for violence with a weapon against people in public office,” FINIELZ said.
