While France faces mass protests, Emmanuel Macron wants to prove that the first lady is really a woman

The lawsuit, filed against US commentator Candace Owens, intends to prove that these statements are unfounded and are part of a defamation campaign that, according to the defense, has ideological motivations

French President Emmanuel Macron will present scientific documentary evidence in a United States Court to respond to charges for several years and claim that the first lady, Brigitte Macron, was born a man.

In an interview with, the couple’s lawyer, Tom Clare, explained that Brigitte Macron considers the allegations “incredibly disturbing” and “distraction” to the French president.

“Like anyone who reconciles career with family life, when his family is attacked, it wears it. And he is not immune to it because he is the president of a country.”

The lawyer explained that elements of scientific nature and testimonies of experts will be delivered, as well as images of pregnant Brigitte and in a family context. He also admitted that this type of public exposure is uncomfortable, but stressed that the first lady is determined to take the process to the end to end speculation.

“It is incredibly disturbing to think that it has to be subject to this kind of evidence so publicly, but it is willing to do so. It is firmly determined to do whatever it is necessary to clarify things. If this discomfort and unpleasant feeling that feels when it is necessary to clarify things and end it once and for all, it is 100% ready to face this burden.”

The rumor began running in 2021 after a video posted on YouTube by the creators of French content Amandine Roy and Natacha Rey. In 2024, the French president and the first lady won the process by defamation, but the decision was nullified on appeal based on freedom of expression.

In July, the couple filed a lawsuit against commentator Candace Owens, who recently even said that he would bet his entire “professional reputation” in the allegation and that “there is nothing more American than freedom of expression and the ability to criticize.”

Last month, Emmanuel Macron explained that he decided to sue the commentator to “defend” his “honor”. “It’s absurd. It’s someone who knew very well that it was false information and acted with the aim of causing damage, in the service of an ideology and with established connections with extreme right leaders,” he said.

Candace Owens, who has millions of followers on social networks, insists on maintaining his statements and has already filed a request for rejection of the case, claiming that he should not respond in Delaware, a US state where the action was filed. The court will now decide on the admissibility of the complaint.

Meanwhile, in France, the president faces a scenario of high social tension. The country is expected to be scheduled for next year, which affect crucial sectors such as health, education and transport. Thousands of people took to the streets in various cities, in a movement that paralyzed public services and returned to put pressure on the government.
