Flower reproduction is the easiest way to get additional free flowers. In the case of orchids, there are several methods, not all of them will work at home, but sometimes you can successfully grow new, beautiful specimens. We suggest how to do it.
In orchids, Keiki is a young plant that grows in one of the knots instead of branching. It can also appear directly on the tuber. Keiki is a kind of concept, they appear thanks to the gathering of large amounts of growth hormones. On their basis, it is easiest to multiply the plant at home.
For their pruning, use disinfected tools, e.g. a small knife, whose blade should be thoroughly cleaned, this will prevent the disease from moving, guaranteeing greater sterility, so that the keik will have a chance to grow a large specimen.

Keiki in healthy plants can appear cyclically on cropped shoots after flowering. It is important to cut them at the height of the third node from the root, it will increase the chance of the new regrowth. Some preparations support the formation of suckers, but they should not be used too often, as they can damage the older plant. When the keiki appear, wait until their roots are a few cm in length and gain 2-3 leaves. Then you can cut them off and plant. Before they release a smaller orchid and bloom, you often have to wait at least a year.
The regrowth should be cut off with a sharp tool. It is important not to damage the base, but if this happens, it is important not to soak them. With the right cut, you can wash the roots. Keika should be placed in a transparent pot. The substrate should be adapted to orchids. We put the regrowth gently, covering it with the soil. For the first time, water it after two days.

The division of plants is a slightly more difficult option. The easiest way to do it when replacing. When transplanting, the plant should be divided so that each seedling has at least three pseudo -good (above -ground roots) and a new growth. This will allow the plant to grow further. This method can be used for such varieties as: Dendrobium, Cymbidium, Miltoniopsis or Bulbophyllum.
The plant should be pulled out of the pot and fall asleep dead roots, divided with the mentioned division and placed in new pots with orchids. Water should be watered a few days after exaggeration.
