Alberto Núñez Feijóo and José María Aznar and have converged their speeches in attacking Pedro Sánchez with the maximum hardness, whom they have accused of “exploiting violence for their own benefit.” The leader of the PP and the former president of the popular government have shared the closing of the FAES Campus after having evidenced this week fissures in his position on the conflict in the Middle East. While Aznar Occidente would be “on the edge of total defeat.” Both have avoided this crack today and have focused on their meeting point, fierce criticism against the president of the socialist government.
Feijóo has also modulated his speech in front of Aznar, and has defended a more equidistant position between the Palestinian and Israel victims. The PP leader has rejected “to condemn the Israeli people, who still expects the liberation of their hostages and is the only democracy in force in the Middle East.” And then, he has criticized “that the massacre is used in Gaza to dehumanize his political rivals,” in reference to Sánchez.
Feijóo has retreated again, since it came from hardening its speech against Israel this week, pressed by the international context and the majority rejection of Spanish society, according to surveys, to the Israeli offensive on the strip, which they consider a genocide.
The problem for the leader of the PP is that it has encountered a focus of resistance to that strategy in the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and Aznar himself, who have protected the performance of the Netanyahu government. Ayuso’s decision in the center of the controversy for his boycott by the Protal Manuts, has internally stressed the PP.
In that context of intramurous tension in the PP, and conditioned by Ayuso and Aznar, Feijóo has again embark its criticisms to Israel. The PP leader has not heard some sectors of the PP, who believe he must continue to harden his rejection of the massacre that the Netanyahu government is committing. “We must mark position and nothing is lost to Israel,” says a veteran.
Aznar has thrown a cape to Feijóo on Friday and has avoided defending Israel again, who has directly not even cited in his speech. “Humanitarian feelings are not a monopoly of anyone,” he reflected today. “How does one are not going to move before suffering? No one has the right to manipulate people’s feelings to flee responsibilities,” he complained.
For Aznar, “what least matters to Sánchez is to contribute to the solution of any international conflict. For him, foreign policy is a mockery. A responsible ruler has the obligation to analyze the strategic context. He should never understand foreign policy as an escape from his internal problems or a mirror where he rehearses morals.”
Aznar and Feijóo have agreed that the socialist president uses the massacre in Gaza as a smoke curtain of his internal problems. And they have also coordinated an accusation of coarse caliber against Sánchez, who are responsible for instrumentally using “violence”, in reference to the prolastin protests in the cycling return to Spain, for their own benefit. “Be very careful with a power willing to be a voluntary hostage of violence,” said the former president of the Government. “A terminal Sanchismo is glimpsed. And for that reason, like everything that is terminal, it is dangerous, very dangerous,” Aznar warned. “It will give exactly the same to exploit for your own benefit the violence that may come.”
Along the same lines as Aznar, Feijóo has warned that Sánchez’s intention is to keep the social conflict at all costs, in the search for a tension that favors him electorally. “Violence is the last resort of an incompetent. What Spain lives today is the example. Who lacks ideas and is even corruption neck needs chronificed conflict,” he defended.
Both have been complicit in an act in which they have been surrounded by some leaders of the PP dome, such as the parliamentary spokeswoman, Ester Muñoz, and figures of past stages such as former Secretary General and Minister of Defense María Dolores de Cospedal. The event has shown that Faes’ attraction pole has managed to attract the position of the PP to itself, at least for the moment.
