Acre closed the year 2024 with 5.1 million head of cattle, growth of 5.7% compared to 2023, according to data from the Municipal Livestock research (PPM), released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The advance reinforces the importance of cattle ranking for the local economy and places the state in an expansion trajectory within the national livestock sector.

The survey points out that Rio Branco holds the largest herd in Acre, with almost 675 thousand animals, followed by Seine Madureira (586.6 thousand), Senator Guiomard (403.2 thousand), Brazil (384.8 thousand) and Bujari (380 thousand). Municipalities such as Tarauacá, Sena Madureira, Feijó and the capital itself contributed the most to the growth of the staff.
In addition to the increase in the herd, Acre also recorded significant growth in cattle slaughter. In 2024, 563.5 thousand heads were slaughtered in establishments with municipal, state or federal inspection, 21% higher than the previous year, when 466.8 thousand heads had been registered.
This was one of the greatest results of the recent historical series: the median slaughter between 2013 and 2024 is 153,000 heads, which highlights the strength of production in the last four years.
