Tones of the late afternoon mix with the golden trumpets and black skin of men and women portrayed, in a universe that reflects dreams and musical references. This is what the visitor can enjoy at the exhibition “Supreme Love”by the Paulistano artist Peggeon display in Galeria Mitsin São Paulo.
Greated in Ermelino Matarazzo, periphery of the east zone of São Paulo, the visual artist brings to the works the local culture, but is not just about it. His luggage is filled with music, especially jazz – one of his great passions.
Creating an aesthetics that combines figuration and symbolism, the references are spread in the paintings, as in the portrait of Alice Coltraneor in the form of instruments that mix between the artist and the self -portraits.
It expanded its possibilities, besides the graffiti, which opened the door so that the drawings came out of the notebooks and won shades in oil on canvas.
In merging Coltrane with Ermelino Matarazzo, Brazilian experimentalism with the US black tradition, the artist proposes an aesthetic and spiritual crossing, “evoking zones of encounter, dignity and freedom.”
“It represents the realization that I can dream much louder. It was a phase that I did not expect so much and today I am in this place … It is very special to be here and see this,” said Peggge, about exposing the works.
