After the meeting of about two hours, the senators argued that the deputy will serve her sentence, in house arrest, without being extradited to Brazil.
“I appeal to the Italian Justice Minister so that, just as President Bolsonaro answered a claim from the Italian nation returning terrorist Cesare Battisti to Italy, leave Carla in house arrest here in Italy,” said Flávio Bolsonaro, according to UOL.
Battisti’s extradition was authorized in 2018 by the then President Michel Temer. The Italian was then detained in 2019 in Bolivia and sent to Italy in the first year of the Bolsonaro government.

On Sunday, Flávio Bolsonaro will participate in northern Italy in an annual league event, party of deputy premie Matteo Salvini. They should be present exponents of the European ultra -right, such as the Frenchman Jordan Bardella of the Marine Le Pen party.
By determination of Italian justice, Zambelli expects in closed regime to process his extradition process for Brazil. At the end of August, Rome’s appeal court for the congressman to wait for house arrest with an electronic anklet.
The judges argued that Zambelli’s state of health was compatible with jail, as evidenced by a medical expertise, and that there was the risk of new escape from the Brazilian.
The congressman arrived in Italy in June, after fleeing Brazil to escape the conviction of ten years in prison determined by the Supreme Court (STF). She was accused of participating in the invasion of the CNJ (National Council of Justice) system to issue a fake arrest warrant against Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the STF.
After almost two months as a fugitive in Italy, Zambelli was arrested in late July. She claims to be the victim of political persecution in Brazil.
Expected for the coming weeks, the next step in the extradition process will be the opinion of the Public Prosecutor of Rome on the case. Then, the court of appeal, equivalent to the first instance, will mark an audience to discuss whether or not there are requirements for Zambelli to be sent to Brazil. The decision is expected for the end of October.
Then, any resources will be analyzed by the cassation court, which, in the case of a detained person, can take between three and four months to decide. Finally, the Italian government, after the final decision of justice, has 45 days to give the last word about extradition.
