What is Laver Cup?

Laver Cup is an international men’s tennis tournament created in 2017, which brings together some of the best players in the world in a unique competition format. The event divides the athletes into two teams: Time Europa and Time Mundo (composed of tennis players from the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania).

The name of the tournament is a tribute to the legendary Australian tennis player Rod Laver, considered one of the greatest in the history of the sport.

The competition takes place annually, a few days after the US Open, in cities different with each edition, alternating between locations in Europe and outside it. Each team is made up of six players, three chosen based on the ranking and three other invited by the captains.

Games include simple and paid matches played over three days, with progressive scores every round.

Ryder Cup’s tennis response brings together 12 of the best men’s players – six from Team Europa and six from the World team – for a three -day event.

European captain Yannick Noah climbed Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, German Alexander Zverev, Norwegian Casper Ruud, Czech Jakub Mensik, Italian Flavio Cobolli and Danish Holger Rune.

Andre Agassi summoned the American trio Taylor Fritz, Reilly Opelka and Alex Michelsen, as well as Australian Alex de Minaur, Argentine Francisco Cerundolo and Brazilian João Fonseca for the world team.
