An unknown painting of Pablo was revealed this Thursday, after being put for sale in a auction house in Paris, with starting price fixed in 8 million euros.

Titled “Bust of a Woman with Flowering Hat”, the work portrays Dora butphotographer, painter and French poet, who was one of the painter’s companions and his best known muse.

Painted oil, the colorful work measures 80 for 60 centimeters, was completed by Picasso in July 1943 and acquired in August 1944 by a French collector, grandfather of the current owners, according to auctioneer Christophe Lucien, from the Parisian auctions House Drouot.

Vendors are undoing the painting as part of an inheritance agreement, said Lucien.

“Unknown” work

Agnes Sevestre-Barbe, a Picasso specialist in the presentation of the work, said this was “unknown to the public and never displayedexcept in the Spanish master’s studio in Paris. ”He added that the work is“ quite exceptional and marks an important moment in the history of art and Picasso. ”According to the British newspaper, the work appears in a black and white photograph taken shortly before its sale.
