Merlong said his vote was an attempt to “preserve dialogue” between the PT and the chairman of the House, currently occupied by Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB).
“My goal was to help prevent the advancement of amnesty and enable the vote of important guidelines for the Brazilian people, such as the exemption of income tax, the Gas of the People’s Gas, the taxation of bookmakers and super rich, in addition to the National Education Plan,” he said.
Despite this movement that the deputy says he had, the day after the vote of the Armage PEC, the House approved urgent regime for the project that amnesty condemned by January 8, and may benefit former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison by the STF.
“This effort had no effect. The political agreement was broken and PEC’s vote took place under serious irregularities, including the reintroduction of the secret vote in the text,” Merlong acknowledged.
The petista stated that, after the completion of the approval of the Armage PEC, signed a writ of mandamus presented to the Supreme Court to nullify the vote of the proposal by the House.
It was not ‘best way’, says brother of the mayor of Recife
Pressured by voters on social networks, Pedro Campos (PSB-PE) also published a video to explain the vote in favor of the armor PEC.
He said the position was intended to prevent boycott of major guidelines for the Lula administration, such as the one that expands the social tariff of energy and the one who exempts those who earn up to $ 5,000.

However, Pedro Campos stated the strategy he followed did not represent the choice “of the best path”.
“The PEC went the way we didn’t want, including the maneuver to return the secret vote we had already knocked down,” he said.
“Therefore, I have the humility to recognize that we did not choose the best way. We left defeated in the vote of the PEC and the amnesty vote,” amended the brother of the mayor of Recife, João Campos (PSB).
Pedro Campos stated that he also signs a writ of mandamus with the Supreme Court to annul the vote and the maneuver made to restore the secret vote to authorize lawsuits against parliamentarians.
