The Rio Branco Municipal Secretary of Sports, Jhon Douglas, presented, in an interview with Contilnet, the program that will move the capital’s sports calendar until the end of 2025. Since taking over this year, he has highlighted the partnership between the secretary, the community and local entities to expand sports actions.

According to Douglas, the agenda has already begun with an important milestone: the closing of the 14th NSL Superleague and the beginning of the 15th edition, held on the 17th. The event brought together a record audience and double teams compared to the previous edition. “It was a gigantic and very beautiful event. Last year we had 32 teams, this year there were 64, plus 64 muses that further brightening the competition,” said the secretary.

Still in September, the secretary promotes the walk for life, scheduled for the 27th, at 17:30, in the arch of Park of Tucumã. The event refers to the yellow September, a month of suicide prevention, and seeks to encourage the practice of physical activity as an ally in combating depression. “It is the first edition of the walk and will be open to everyone. I leave here the invitation for the population to participate in this moment,” he said.

In October, the capital will host the National Stage of Mecca Brasil, on the 5th, at Arena Race, which was totally reactivated by the City Hall. The deactivated arena, received improvements in lighting and track to receive extreme modalities. “I have always been a fan of Mecca and today, as a manager, it is an honor to be able to contribute. We will have drawing, motorcycle performances, sound cars and competitions throughout the day. It will be a beautiful and historic event for the city,” he explained.

On October 11, Arena Race is once again the scene of competitions with the participation of national and international starting teams, promising to attract large audience. “Who is not will lose a gigantic event,” said Douglas.

Closing the calendar, the secretary launches the futsal cup, which will have open registrations and the expectation of gathering 42 teams. The goal is to value both experienced and amateur athletes, promoting inclusion and competitiveness. “This was a request from our mayor, who is a born sportsman. We want to rescue the emotion of competitions, record the best teams and involve local entities. The World Cup will take place in the city’s gyms to offer structure and comfort to the public,” said the secretary.

According to Jhon Douglas, the goal is to consolidate Rio Branco as a sports reference in the region, uniting leisure, health and competitiveness in events involving the population.
