A building ended for years has been converted into a public pool and is now open to the public. The space has main tank, jacuzzi and resorts, being prepared for group classes and free use. The Mexilhoeira da Lada municipal pool opened in the municipality of Lagoa on September 15.
Of the hotel closed to municipal equipment
The building where today operates the pool integrated the Boca do Rio Hotel, which ended several years ago. The Lagoa City Council acquired the structure and promoted adaptation works.
According to NIT, a site specialized in urban and leisure today, the investment has been around 147 thousand euros, a value intended for the recovery of the property and the installation of the conditions necessary for aquatic use.
Technical Characteristics and Capacity
The main tank is 17 meters long and 12 wide, depth between 0.80 and 1.30 meters. These dimensions allow use by children, youth, adults and seniors in different activities.
The space also includes Jacuzzi and resorts to support sessions. The pool is designed to welcome training, recreational activities and aquatic therapies, being available to associations, clubs and private.
Price structure defined by the municipality
The price list foresees 1.50 euros for one hour for children from 6 to 11 years and for people over 65.
Young people between 12 and 17 pay 2 euros and adults 3 euros. There are also packages that include swimming, water aerobics and hydrotherapy classes, with values dependent on the participant’s age and weekly regularity. The municipality has made available time for free use and reserved classes for classes.
Urban Framework and Location
The pool is located in the Urbanization Boca do Rio, next to the Arade River, in the municipality of Lagoa. The installation has returned use to a property that remained deactivated since the closing of the old hotel.
According to the opening of this equipment aims to create conditions for the practice of water activities at all times of the year and integrate the rehabilitated building in the municipal network of sports infrastructure.
