He had another remarkable moment after the Tokyo Athletics World Cup. In addition to winning the gold medal in the 20 km of the athletic march, the Brazilian rediscovered on Sunday (21) the wedding alliance he had lost during the race. The ring was in the city of Osaka and was found after mobilization of the local population, being delivered by the organization of the event. The jewelry has special meaning for the march, as it was made with the gold of six alliances of his parents, carrying over 30 years of family history.
Bonfim marches with the alliance as an amulet, always kissing the ring before and during competitions. In addition to the wedding ring, he also wears another ring with the names of his children. After losing his jewel, the athlete even played with the situation: “I think my wife will only forgive me if I get another gold.” With the recent achievement, Bonfim became the Brazilian athlete with more medals in world championships. He finished the race in 1h18min35 and added the fourth podium in his career, the largest number for an athlete in the country.
