The municipality of Portimão has announced a special program to mark World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on September 27, indicating that the alignment integrates “regional product evidence, walking on environmentally sustainable vessels and a showcooking”.
In a note sent to the newsrooms, the municipality stresses that the design of the initiatives has as its background “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, a theme proposed by the United Nations for 2025.

“Election destination for many national and foreign tourists, even outside the high season, Portimão continues to assert himself as a reference for thousands of people,” says the municipality, justifying the program with the objective of “making known different projects of the county” from the prism of sustainability.
According to the municipality, local cuisine and regional products assume this special year prominence, while “surpluses for the local and circular economy”. In this context, “two promotion actions that intersect with the cultural aspect and the identity of the county were planned”.

The first activity takes place between 9:30 am and 17:30 at the Tour Tour station, in the old Putter building, near the city’s riverside area. The municipality informs that there will be “wine tasting and regional products”, followed by a visit to the exhibition “Da Vinha to Taberna – Wine Stories and Convivio in Portimão”.
On another point of the city, the Portimão Municipal Market welcomes, on Saturday, between 11:00 and 12:30, a showcooking “that shows sustainable cuisine”.
The session will be conducted by chief Nuno Martins, responsible for the restaurant’s cuisine, which “will show the delicacies that makes all those who go to the Municipal Market,” adds the statement.

The environmental aspect will also be in evidence with two actions planned for the same day. According to the House, “the Teia d’Empulse Association will sensitize the importance of preserving local landscapes” through a cleaning action in the Ria de Alvor, between 10:00 and 12:00, in the Alvor.
Registrations “are open” and can be made by email () or by phone 282 242 620, the municipality indicates.
