The United States government revoked on Monday (22) the visa of the Union’s attorney general, Jorge Messias, according to the agency Reuters. The measure expands the list of Brazilian authorities targeting Donald Trump government restrictions amid the escalating diplomatic tensions.
According to the report, Washington should still suspend the visas of five other Brazilian authorities, whose names were not disclosed.
Messiah, who has acted in defense of Minister Alexandre de Moraes in the face of the White House accusations, is indirectly accused of supporting the alleged “witch hunt” against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), a lawsuit that Trump describes as a political persecution.

The decision adds to measures already adopted in July, when the US suspended the visas of Alexandre de Moraes and seven other ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Among them are the president of the court, Luis Roberto Barroso, Vice President Edson Fachin, as well as Dias Toffoli, Cristiano Zanin, Flávio Dino, Cármen Lúcia and Gilmar Mendes. The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, also had his visa suspended.
Ministers André Mendonça, Nunes Marques and Luiz Fux were left out of the list.
