President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) said in an interview with the American television network PBS that the president of a country with “such greatness and power” as the US “needs to have more responsibility”, in reference to. Lula has been in the US since yesterday, where he will participate in the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations.
“We do not accept that anyone, no one, no country in the world interferes with our democracy or our sovereignty. By the time the US government is willing to talk to the Brazilian government, I can guarantee that we are ready to talk. Everything can be resolved at a negotiating table,” he said.
He cited the left-wing demonstrations in several Brazilian cities last Sunday (21) against the amnesty for former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). “We suffer to get rid of Bolsonaro, we no longer want dictatorships,” he said.
