Do not overlook the date of repaying conifers. They have to acclimatize against frosts

Transplanting conifers is an important process that not only allows us to rearrange our garden, but also has a huge impact on the condition of plants. So, wanting to improve the conditions for the development of our specimens, we need to know, not only how to overdo them properly, but also when to do it.

Transplanting most conifers should be carried out from mid -August to the end of September. This is a period when it is still so warm that the roots are able to develop before winter. This term is recommended in particular in the case of TUI, Jałowców or Cisówwhich are able to adapt quickly.

In autumn, we can also overdo it pines and spruces, but we must devote a little more attention to them. For these conifers, take care of, among others for abundant watering, root body protection and cover against drying. This is due to the fact that these species have a more sensitive root system. For this reason, most gardeners exaggerate them in early spring, when the soil is moist and the roots have a lot of time to regenerate before the heat.

In turn, sometimes at which you should not overdo any conifers is summer and winter. Hot days and dry soil can cause rapid drying of the root block, while the frozen soil in winter makes it difficult to return to the plant.

However, before we get to exaggerating conifers, we must properly prepare a new place for our plants. First of all, they should be thoroughly cleaned of stones and weeds. Then we proceed to digging the bottom larger than the diameter of the crown.

At the bottom of the hole it is recommended to make a mound from the ground to conifers. Compost mixed with the ground will also work great in this role. Let’s not forget to water it the day before the planned transplant, so that the root shape is moist and does not fall apart when digging it.

Of course, in the case of the elders and thus larger plants, you should prepare for exaggeration much earlier, preferably in spring. Then it should be dug a wide groove around the plant, while cutting the roots with a sword so that they do not grow and that It only formed small roots closer to the trunk. Thanks to this, it will be easier for us to move them later, because the conifer will create a compact strong root block.

After pre -preparation of the position and the plant itself, we can move on to exaggerating it. The first step is to dig a conifer with the greatest possible root block. It’s best to do it by digging it on each side. However, in the event that the roots start to crumble anyway and the body falls apart, the whole fabric should be protected. It is also worth wraping branches to prevent them from breaking.

The dug plant should be placed immediately in the hole and completed it with the soil halfway. We beat the soil gently, And we wait for the water to soak. Then we embarrass the covering of the conifer and beat the ground again.
