Elected on Monday (22) the best soccer player in the world for the Golden Ball awards, France Football magazine, the 28-year-old Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé lived by far the most scoring phase of his career in the 2024/25 season, with PSG (Paris Saint-Germain).
In the period considered by the awards, Dembélé scored 37 goals in 60 games, an average of 0.62 per match, and distributed 14 assists.
Until then, the striker’s best season had been 2018/19, still in his second year for Barcelona, when he scored 14 times and gave eight assists in 46 matches.
Leading the Parisian collective towards his first European Continental title, with eight goals in 15 matches – 0.5 goal per game – and six more assists, the Frenchman was elected by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) the best of the tournament.
All goals were scored from inside the large area, five of them on the right foot and three with the left – of the embudsute. He scored in the 1-0 wins against Liverpool and Arsenal, for the Champions League, respectively.
In the 5-0 defeat against Inter Milan in the decision in Munich, the passes for the second and fourth goals of PSG, scored by Desiré Doué and Kvaratskhelia, passes.
The striker was also the scorer of the French Championship with 21 goals – in the Englishman Mason Greenwood of Olympique Marseille – in 29 matches, average 0.72 per game.
Of the 21 goals – with one goal every 83 minutes – 20 went from inside the area, ten with the left foot, nine with the right, and two head. Only one was penalty.
He also distributed six assists in French, being elected the best of the championship by the players’ association.
In the French Super Cup, in a single game against Monaco, Dembelé was the author of the goal of the match, again on the right foot, from within the large area.
In the France Cup, there were three more goals and an assist in four matches, average of 0.75 per game, guiding PSG towards the two -time consecutive championship.
At the Club World Cup in the United States, the Frenchman could not act in the group stage due to an injury.
He returned to the team in the round of 16 against Inter Miami, and scored in the next game against Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals. He returned to the nets against Real Madrid, semis, both from inside the large area, one with each foot.
For the French team, Dembélé entered the field seven times through the League of Nations and scored two goals, against Belgium and Croatia, from the area, right and left.
In the tournament semifinal, France was surpassed by Spain 5-4.
