‘The posture of the administration over Venezuela has not changed,’ said spokesman Karoline Leavitt at a press conference, which qualified the Maduro government as ‘illegitimate’
The president of the United States, rejected the invitation to the dialogue made in a letter by his Venezuelan pair, stating that the text was full of “lies,” the White House announced on Monday (22). “Maduro repeated many lies in this letter, and the posture of administration over Venezuela has not changed,” spokesman Karoline Leavitt said at a press conference, which qualified the Maduro government as “illegitimate.”
Trump “has clearly demonstrated that he is willing to use all necessary means to combat illegal drug trafficking from the Venezuela regime,” the spokesman added. At least three speedboats that completed drug transport were destroyed by the United States forces, which positioned eight ships in the Caribbean and a dozen fighters in Puerto Rico.
Maduro’s government accuses the United States of committing attacks illegally, while Washington invokes dangers to their national security to justify them. “I convince him, president, to preserve peace with dialogue and understanding throughout the hemisphere,” Maduro said in his letter, released on Sunday, but would have been sent shortly after his first Caribbean attack in early September.
The Trump government has announced the reward of a $ 50 million reward (267 million reais in the current price) for the capture of Maduro, which he accuses of leading an international drug trafficking cartel.
