Alexandre Silveira (Minas and Energia) stated that government council will accompany proposals from regulator about cylinders fractionation and gas with different distributors
The Minister of Mines and Energy, said on Wednesday (24.Set.2025) that the government of the President (PT) may oppose changes in the LPG market (liquefied oil gas) studied by (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels). He made the statement during, in Rio de Janeiro.
Proposals in public consultation include the possibility of cylinder fractionation and gas with gas from different distributors. Sector agents are measured by considering that it can reduce the quality of containers, make room for fraud for organized crime, discourage investments, and risk consumer safety.
“The regulatory agency is autonomous and has every right to discuss this theme, but we have CNPE [Conselho Nacional de Política Energética]which I preside over, with 16 ministers of state, and will always be aware of emanating public policies that give stability to investments in Brazil ”said Silveira to journalists.
Critics of the ANP proposal also claim that flexibility can affect social programs linked to gas supply. The Minister of Mines and Energy, however, said he did not believe that the one, which establishes free distribution of cylinders to poor families, is harmed.
“I don’t believe [que vai afetar]. I think the gas of the people is a great national priority and I am absolutely convinced that we will move towards regulatory stability and the safe execution of the program ”he declared.
