At a meeting in New York, presidents approach military support, return of kidnapped children and prospects for the postwar in Ukraine
The president of, met with the president of, on Tuesday (23), during the UN General Assembly in New York. In an X publication, the Ukrainian said he discussed “promising ideas to advance with peace,” such as the program that guarantees the financing of arms by the allies.
“Today, the main focus was on bringing kids kidnapped by Russia back and supporting our efforts to defend life,” Zelensky wrote. “Mr. President clearly understands the situation and is well informed about all aspects of the war. We greatly value his effort to help finish war.”
According to BBCZelensky told reporters in New York that “Trump is willing to offer safety guarantees to Ukraine after the war is over,” but has no specific details.

During the meeting, Trump stated that “the greatest progress is that the Russian economy is terrible, breaking. Frankly, Ukraine is doing a great job when stopping this great army.” Still on the conflict, Trump said Ukraine could advance beyond the original borders, in a publication on the social network Truth Social.
