The aircraft that fell in the Mato Grosso South Tuesday (23) victimizing the renowned Chinese architect and urban planner Kongjian Yu, Brazilian documentary artists Luiz Fernando Feres da Cunha Ferraz and Rubens Crispim Jr., and pilot Marcelo Pereira de Barros, operated outside the time for which he was qualified. The information was released by Delegate Ana Claudia Medina of the Department of Corruption and Organized Crime (Dracco) of the Mato Grosso do Sul Civil Police. “Let’s check what are the conditions of this aircraft, what were the conditions of flight, but we already have some information that leads us to an operation out of time on the runway where they were landing,” said the delegate.

According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the aircraft was certified only for daytime flights, having no equipment to operate at night or in poor condition. In such cases, the pilot needs eye contact with the soil and guidance through the horizon. Witnesses reported that it was night when the pilot was trying to land on the Barra Mansa Farm track. The Barra Mansa Hotel clarified that the flight was private and was not part of the services offered by the establishment.

Delegate Medina described the first actions at the scene of the accident, which prioritized the removal of victims from the wreckage of the aircraft, which exploded and charred by touching the ground. “We prioritize the extraction of the victims of the wreckage of the aircraft and the attempt to identify the victims. There is still a need to individualize the identities of the victims who ended up death, as in the claim the aircraft eventually charred and brought various damage to the identification of these bodies. We did hear and request tests,” he explained.

Due to the state of the bodies, it was not possible to perform personal recognition by documents or common papilloscopy. The initial confirmation of the identities was based on testimonials of witnesses and family members. The expert team from the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) was expected at the scene, with the arrival difficult for the isolation of the area. “We await the arrival of the team so that we can delve into the place where the wreckage of the aircraft are, check what are the conditions of the aircraft and what the conditions of the flight,” said the delegate, indicating the deepening of investigations.

The families of the victims have already been asked to provide genetic material for DNA confrontation. The pilot’s 8 -year -old son, for example, handed a sample that was sent to Campo Grande. Most of the victims of the victims live in São Paulo, while the pilot’s relatives, although he lives in Mato Grosso do Sul, are also from the interior of São Paulo. The former wife and the pilot’s son were in town at the time of the tragedy.
