China’s president, Xi Jinping, said on Wednesday, 24, that “green and low carbon transformation is the trend of our time” and argued that developed countries take the lead in reducing global emissions.
In a discourse at the United Nations Climate Summit (UN), he pointed out that, although “some countries go against the current”, the international community should maintain continuous action and firm efforts to advance climate governance.
XI stressed that the ecological transition needs to be conducted with justice. In this sense, the Chinese leader demanded that rich nations comply with “the obligation to reduce emissions first” and offer greater financial and technological support to developing countries.

He also requested more cooperation in innovation and industry to “ensure the global free circulation of quality green products” and expand sustainable productive capacity.
