An exchange of accusations between federal deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) and lawyer Cleber Lopes, who defends businessman Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as the “”, interrupted the work of the INSS Mixed Parliamentary Commission (CPMI) on Thursday (25). The session had to be suspended for about ten minutes.
The confusion began after the committee’s rapporteur, Deputy Alfredo Gaspar (Union-AL), stating that Antunes would be the “author of the greatest theft of retirees and pensioners.” The statement provoked the lawyer’s immediate reaction, who contested the rapporteur in an exalted tone.
The situation came out of control when Zé Trovão left his bench and went towards the table where the rapporteur, the interim president of the session, deputy Duarte Jr. (PSB-MA), the deponent and his lawyer were. Pointing his finger in laugh, the parliamentarian intensified the discussion, increasing the tension in the plenary.

Faced with the risk of physical confrontation, the Legislative Police were called to contain the spirits. Only then did Duarte Jr. decided to temporarily suspend the session. The work resumed ten minutes later, already in a more controlled climate.
CPMI investigates one of the largest fraud schemes already identified in the INSS, which would have diverted millions of reais in social security benefits. Antunes, named as a central piece in the scheme, is one of the main targets of the commission.
