FIFA (International Football Federation) released on Thursday (25) the names and images of the 2026 World Cup mascots.
Headquartered by the United States, Canada and Mexico, the competition will have three different mascots, represented by animals typical of each of the countries.
The United States will be represented by the eagle named Clutch, while Canada will have the mascot the Maple. Mexico will have the jaguar Zayu as a mascot.
“The three mascots are fundamental to the amazing and fun atmosphere we are creating for this revolutionary tournament,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The leader added that the mascots will be characters from a video game game, which will be released by the entity in 2026.
The tradition of mascots at the World Cup began in 1966 in England with Lion Willie.
In the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the chosen mascot was the Fuleco armadillo.
The next World Cup starts scheduled for June 11 at the Azteca Stadium, Mexico City, with the final on July 19 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
