Fatality happened when the young athlete crashed into a wall near the sideline of the field
Striker Billy Vigar, graduated from Arsenal’s base categories, died on Thursday (25) at the age of 21 as a result of a serious brain injury suffered during a match.
He defended Chichester City of the 7th English Division and crashed on Saturday (20) in a game against Wingate & Finchley.
The fatality happened when the young athlete crashed into a wall near the sideline of the field.
Vigar received immediate care, was taken by helicopter to the hospital and placed in an induced coma, but could not resist.
Chichester City confirmed death in an official statement, asking for respect for family privacy at this time of mourning. Shortly thereafter, Arsenal also spoke out:
“Everyone in Arsenal is devastated by the shocking news that former base player Billy Vigar passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones right now. Rest in peace, Billy.”
