It is expected to be discharged from the intensive care unit to the room in the next 24 hours,” says the newsletter.
In an interview with GE, the former athlete stated that the recovery has been positive and hopes to return home. “I’m fine, recovering. I think in about five or six days I’ll be back home,” he said.
Hoyama, 56, is the biggest medalist in the history of Pan American Games, with 15 achievements. He retired from international competitions in 2013 and is currently ambassador to Brazilian table tennis.
