President of the Senate, David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) decided to file the so-called PEC of the Armage, without bringing the proposal to the plenary: ‘There is nothing to clarify’
The President (PT) classified the filing of the Proposal of Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of Senate Shielding as “predictable” and a “national shame”. The statement was made on Wednesday (24) during an interview at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), after participating in the general meeting of the entity.
“It was predictable that this was going to happen. It was predictable. What I find historical misconception was to put that PEC in voting. Unnecessary, provocative and passed a poor signal to Brazilian society,” said Lula. He continued, defending everyone’s responsibility to the law: “The only way people are protected is that people don’t do the wrong thing. You can’t want a protection that society doesn’t have. So that you want this protection? You’re afraid of what? So that’s it, I think it happened to this PEC the destiny it deserves. It was a national shame.”
Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) file the so-called PEC of the Armage, without bringing the proposal to the plenary. “There is nothing to clarify. Thus, considering that CCJ unanimously approved seem by the unconstitutionality of the PEC and on the merits for its rejection. This presidency determines its filing, without deliberation of plenary,” said Alcolumbre. The Senate Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) rejected the proposal to amend the Constitution that sought to expand judicial protection to parliamentarians. With the unanimous decision, the proposal was definitely filed in Congress, as provided for in the Senate’s Internal Regulations.
