At a news conference during the UN General Assembly in New York, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) pointed out that Brazilian sovereignty and democracy are non -negotiable points in any conversations with US President Donald Trump.
In answering questions about possible future negotiations, Lula emphasized the importance of bilateral dialogue, but has established clear limits: “What is not debatable is Brazilian sovereignty and our democracy, this is not debatable, nor with Trump, nor with any president of the world.”

Emphasizing that there are significant interests at stake, including investments and an important trade flow between nations. According to him, there is a broad desire for the business community and the Brazilian political class for this dialogue to occur.
He also established a clear principle of non -interference with internal affairs: “When I have an election in the United States I do not get myself and when I have an election in Brazil it does not get into, that’s how we do it.”
