The Public Prosecution Service of Minas Gerais (MPMG) denounced 32 -year -old Matteos France Campos for the crimes of femicide, corpse concealment and procedural fraud. He is accused of killing his own mother, Professor Soraya Tatiana Bomfim França, 56, on July 18, in Belo Horizonte.
According to the investigation of the Civil Police, mother and son lived together, and Soraya suffered psychological and patrimonial violence. Prosecutor Claudio Barros, state coordinator of the Jury Court, said the crime fits in femicide because he was committed indoors and in the context of domestic violence.

After the murder, Matteos tried to mislead the police, registering a police report on the alleged disappearance of his mother and traveling to Serra do Cipó with friends. However, Soraya’s body was found two days later in Vespasian, wrapped in a sheet and abandoned near a viaduct.
The accused even recognized his mother at the medical-legal institute, maintaining the version that he was unaware of what had happened. Faced with contradictions in his statement, Matteos was arrested and confessed to the crime.
He reported that he killed Soraya during a discussion about debt in handouts. Debound after a payroll loan, the son said he had “collapsed” and hanged his mother, then placing his body in the trunk of the car and abandoning it.
Prosecutor Caio Augusto Bogus stated that MPMG expects a minimum penalty of 20 years, noting that, in addition to femicide, Matteos committed procedural fraud by trying to deceive the authorities with the false report of disappearance.
