Plane that crashed in the Pantanal had no authorization for air taxi, says Anac

The small plane that crashed in Aquidauana, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, and left four dead on Tuesday night (23), I was not allowed to perform air taxiaccording to consultation with the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB) of ANAC.

The document, obtained by CNNshows that the PT-Ban registration aircraft, model Cessna 175 manufactured in 1958, was registered in the “Private-Private Air Service” category, with status of “Operation Denied for Air Taxi”.

The plane was owned by the driver Marcelo Pereira de Barros, who also died in the accident. Although the aircraft situation is normal and the Certificate of Air Yellowability (CVA) valid until December 2025, the aircraft could only be used on private flights.

In the accident died, in addition to the pilot, the filmmakers Luiz Fernando Feres da Cunha Ferraz and Rubens Crispim Jr. they were in the Pantanal for the production of the documentary Planet Sponge.

The fall occurred at the moment the aircraft was preparing to land at Barra Mansa farm. The Brazilian Air Force confirmed the accident and said it investigates the circumstances of the occurrence.
